Jēkabpils, a city that spans both shores of the Daugava River

Jēkabpils is actively working to become a thriving logistics and manufacturing city, at the crossroads of the Latvian regions of Zemgale, Vidzeme and Latgale. Its goal is to create a harmonious living space for educated, creative, happy and prosperous families.

Jēkabpils lies at a road and railway junction that links Latvia with Russia and Belarus. It is presently Latvia’s eighth largest city in terms of the number of inhabitants. The city occupies a total land area of more than 2500 hectares, of which almost 450 hectares are covered by water and about 180 hectares are covered by forests. In 2009, Jēkabpils officially obtained the status of a nationally significant urban centre.

The Krustpils Castle, the Sēļu sēta open-air branch of the Jēkabpils History Museum, the Radžu Reservoir and the Jēkabpils Forest Park are only a few of the tourist attractions that will long remain in the memory of the city’s guests. Jēkabpils is offering an increasingly diverse cultural programme with every passing year and is proud of the hospitality of its inhabitants.

You will be welcome in Jēkabpils – a city that spans both shores of the Daugava River.
