Breathing in time with the rest of Europe 

Following a 50-year foreign occupation that had all but cut off their oxygen supply, Latvia’s 77 cities are once again breathing freely and in time with Europe’s other urban centres. Since the renewal of independence 19 years ago, in 1991, Latvia’s cities have experienced a rebirth and a renewal, as they enter the modern age of the 21st century.
